Are you curious about what it’s like to work as a Pega Business Analyst at BPM Company? Meet Floris de Groot, our Practice Lead BA & Lead Business Analyst.
Career path
“I began with a study in Financial Services Management, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and an international diploma in Business Analysis. After my studies, I worked as a consultant in process optimization and later as a generalist Business Analyst to bridge the gap between Business & IT. Four years ago, I joined BPM Company as a Pega Business Architect and progressed to Practice Lead and Lead Business Analyst.”
What do you enjoy most about your work as a Pega professional?
“The impact on the success of projects and thus the digital transformation of organizations is amazing to me. I bring together various interests and translate strategic business objectives into IT and operational execution. The combination of making an impact, connecting business & IT, and working with cutting-edge and innovative software gives me a lot of satisfaction.”
Have you ever encountered challenges in your role? And how did you overcome them?
“Absolutely, where should I begin? There are plenty of challenges on Pega projects, such as time pressure, unclear priorities, and lack of alignment. It is part of my role to remove these obstacles.
Success factors from my own experience are:
- Quality over speed: Focus on quality for a maintainable and scalable application.
- One truth: Ensure all parties commit to the same portfolio and planning.
- Clear roles and responsibilities: Define these before the project starts.
- Common goal: Ensure a shared understanding of the higher objective.
- The 5 dysfunctions of a team: Understanding this theory strengthens collaboration and success.
Overcoming challenges requires active knowledge sharing and brainstorming with like-minded individuals. As a consultant at BPM Company, you are part of a vast network of knowledge and experience (read: collective intelligence). This is what sets us apart and adds value to our clients.”
How impact is continuous growth and skill development for you as a senior Pega professional?
“Continuous learning is essential in the life of a consultant. At BPM Company, we understand that knowledge sharing is indispensable if you want to remain relevant in a rapidly changing world. We encourage and invest in knowledge sharing to achieve personal development and ambitions. We do this by providing ten days annually for attending courses and training sessions and obtaining Pega certifications.”
Why did you choose to work at BPM Company?
“I was looking for a place where I could strengthen my knowledge at the intersection of Business & IT with a future-proof software platform. BPM Company’s reputation, its clients, and its culture attracted me. Externally, there’s the extensive network with leading clients, and internally, the familial atmosphere with short communication lines makes working here very pleasant. You get the opportunity to realize your ambitions and have a say in the projects you participate in. And I haven’t even mentioned the great outings and activities, like the annual ski trip, padel matches, and the Pega event in Las Vegas, which make it extra enjoyable!”
