Starting a new job is always exciting. What can you expect? What will your first day look like? And how do we make sure you feel at home from day one? In this blog, we’ll take you through the onboarding process at BPM Company. Along the way, our colleague Jeroen Memelink shares his personal onboarding experience, giving you an inside look at what your first days and weeks might be like. By the end of this blog, you’ll have a clear picture of what to expect during your first days, weeks and months at BPM Company.

Before your first day

Once you’ve signed your contract, our HR team gets to work. You’ll receive all the practical information you need, including what time you’re expected to arrive on your first day. In the meantime, we’ll make sure all your accounts are set up and ready to use. Behind the scenes, we also prepare for your arrival by planning your first day and making sure everything is in place to give you the best possible start. That way, you can begin your journey at BPM Company feeling well prepared and welcome.

Your first day

On your first day, you’ll be welcomed by our HR team. During the first hour, you’ll learn more about our organisation, how we work, and who is responsible for what. This way, you’ll immediately know who to turn to with any questions.

“The welcome was incredibly warm. The HR team made me feel at ease right away with a friendly chat and a cup of coffee. It was great to have a clear idea of what to expect on my first day.” – Jeroen Memelink

After that, you’ll meet with your manager to discuss your role, your responsibilities, and what you can expect in the coming weeks. If you’re joining us as a Pega professional, you’ll start in our Academy. You’ll also get to know your new colleagues and peers – people in similar roles and the teammates you’ll be working with.

“What stood out to me most about my first day was all the conversations over coffee. Everyone who came by for a coffee would naturally stop and introduce themselves.” – Jeroen Memelink

The first weeks of your onboarding journey

What your onboarding looks like depends on your experience. If you’re new to Pega, you’ll follow a tailored onboarding programme. For your first two months, you’ll have a clear roadmap, so you’ll always know what to expect. You’ll join our in-house Academy, where you’ll be guided through learning Pega and earning the certifications required to start working on client projects. During this period, you’ll also get to know your colleagues and become familiar with the organisation.

Already have your Pega certifications? Then we’ll focus on finding a project that matches your skills and experience. In both cases, while you’re waiting to be assigned to a client, you’ll have the opportunity to continue developing within our internal Launchpad team. This team builds AI-driven B2B SaaS applications using Pega Launchpad, allowing you to gain valuable hands-on experience even before joining a client project. From day one, you’ll keep learning, collaborate with experienced colleagues, and continue developing your Pega expertise.

“I’m now working at Autotrust, and the entire process went very smoothly. After earning my certifications, I was able to start my first client assignment the following week. That was a great experience, thanks in part to the training from my Field Manager and the thorough preparation.” – Jeroen Memelink

Team onboarding day

In addition to the standard onboarding programme, we organise a dedicated onboarding day every quarter for all new colleagues. During this day, you’ll learn everything you need to know about BPM Company. We’ll introduce you to our clients, projects, different departments, practices, and the way we collaborate and share knowledge across the organisation. Besides providing valuable insights into the company, this day is also a great opportunity to get to know other new colleagues and start building your network.

Getting to know your colleagues

Besides your day-to-day work, there are plenty of opportunities to get to know your colleagues better. Participation in these activities is entirely optional, so you’re welcome to join whenever it suits you. For example:

  • Knowledge-sharing lunch sessions, where colleagues share their expertise and experiences.
  • Company events, such as our annual ski trip.
  • Friday afternoon drinks and themed social events, including an Italian Night hosted by our Italian colleague Giacomo, wine tastings, and more.
  • Time at our Utrecht office, where you’ll naturally meet colleagues from different teams over lunch, a coffee break, or while working together.

What we expect from you

A successful onboarding is a shared effort. We’ll make sure you have everything you need for a great start and support you throughout your first weeks. All we ask from you is to come with an open mind, stay curious, and don’t hesitate to ask questions. That way, you’ll get the most out of your onboarding experience and quickly get to know both the organisation and your new colleagues.

We look forward to welcoming you to BPM Company. In the meantime, feel free to explore our current vacancies. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch, we’d be happy to tell you more.
