When I started working with the Pega platform in 2017, there was a lot of commotion around microservices and cloud services. At the time, however, Pega’s platform was designed as a monolith, embedding numerous emerging technologies. This made functioning as a microservice platform nearly impossible. It was a bulky and difficult platform to distribute, especially when considering features such as search, reporting, decision services, clustering applications and streaming, which are highly interconnected.
Ongoing improvement of Pega’s cloud services
Pega was determined to make significant changes to their system. This began with the gradual transformation of the platform from a monolithic design to a microservice architecture. At the same time, Pega worked hard to continuously improve its cloud services to meet the demands of the modern world and ensure the quality of their services. This transition resulted in more and more customers switching from on-premises setups to Pega’s cloud services.
