Oktay Bilal started at BPM Company in early 2023 as a Trainee Pega Developer. In this blog, he talks about why he chose model-driven software development and why Pega’s platform in particular. He also talks about his experiences at BPM Company.

Low code is the future

I studied Computer Engineering in Turkey. After graduating, I started working as a front-end developer for a marketing platform based in Istanbul in 2021. In April 2022, I moved to the Netherlands and after working several jobs, I decided to return to programming. This time I did not choose the traditional way of programming, but wanted to learn how to work with a model-driven platform. More and more organizations are starting to use model-driven software development, something I see and hear around me.

Warm welcome

During an orientation period, I was introduced to Mendix’s low-code platform and Microsoft’s Power Platform. But when I was introduced to the Pega platform, I thought, yes, this is it! Say Pega, you quickly say BPM Company. I contacted them and was invited for an interview. My first interview was with Sander van Suilichem, Talent Sourcer at BPM Company. Then, I spoke with Bram Agterberg, a senior Pega consultant. Lastly, I also had a job interview with LeasePlan, the organiation I would be working for after my training. Everyone was equally helpful and all the colleagues made me feel welcome. I took the plunge and haven’t regretted it for a moment.

Great onboarding experience

On January 2, 2023, I joined BPM Company as a trainee. My induction period was the best I have ever had and everything went smoothly from the beginning. After just one month of training, I earned my first certificate, as a Certified System Architect (CSA).  By the end of February, I earned my second certificate, as a Certified Senior System Architect (CSSA). After only nine weeks at BPM Company, I started working at LeasePlan, which is tremendous fun and where I learn a lot.

At BPM Company, you are surrounded by experienced developers who are always willing to help you. Additionally, you have several opportunities for further development. What I also really appreciate are of course the weekly Friday afternoon drinks with my colleagues at the BPM Company office.
